Ah... er... no, I haven't. Could probably use the bucket as a pot...

[gestures to the metal bucket next to the mop, then... goes back to staring at that mop, looking slightly worried]

[shakes his head]

No, I want the dirt, not the...

[notices his expression and follows his eyes to the mop]

Don't you like it?

We haven't been able to get here until now, right? Then how is this mop wet...?

[crouches to stare at it from as close-by as possible, as it that would make its wetness more of a fact]

[thinks for a moment, then gets back up and locks eyes with him]

Maybe one of our classmates who got here first used it to clean something? O-or... if not, then maybe Yuri or Roma?

Probably those two, but why? Did they put the bodies in the freezer?

[shakes his head]

Maria and I did that. We, um... it was her idea. She said that they should get a real b-burial and not be burned. Maybe she thinks we can get out of the school somehow...

[turns back to the mop]

It's just water, right? I wonder if they cleaned away the blood in the hallway with it, maybe. Or was it still there where Tony died?

[didn't pay attention when he went to get breakfast with with Prudence]

You put them there? What about all that food...? [HE'S GOING TO MISS THAT]

I suppose that could be it. Didn't check where they found her.

About the food... I, I wonder, too. Maria said she would put it somewhere, but I didn't ask her where.

What things have you made?

[dead trees are prettiest left alone, but very beautiful things *can* be made of them]

Er... I don't really have anything here, but I've made a lot of things. Mostly animals. Sometimes inanimate objects, but animals are more fun to make. My favorite are reindeer.

Er... what are you?

[you like trees but you certainly don't look like a lumberjack....]

Reindeers... they are like elks, right? Just smaller? Like, um, between elks and deers... I saw a picture of them in a book.

And I'm a dendrologist - I, I grow trees. The last few years I have helped scientists find out which trees they can cross fruit trees with so that they will be stronger.

A bit. They're more like deer than elk, though. [smiles a bit, let's talk more about reindeer]

Ah, I see, so it would make sense you would know a lot about trees then. You can really figure out that sort of thing?

[gives him a little smile back - as dreary as the situation is, at least most classmates are turning out to be really nice]

Hm, I didn't work in the laboratories... I mostly just talked to some of the research people about which trees have which kind of bark, and which bugs eat which leaves, and which trees can defend themselves a little - by tasting bad to the beetles, you see - and how they pollinate... and the scientists do the crossing. But they gave me some of the saplings!
