[After the usual announcement the next morning, a second one begins about ten minutes later.]

Hey, you all! Listen up, 'cause this is important!

In your rooms, you'll find an envelope, okay? You can do whatever you like with it, but it might be important, so make sure to read every word and look at everything inside! Thanks!

[Like he said, slid under the door of each room is a thin manila envelope. Inside is a photograph and a piece of parchment paper. The photograph depicts a loved one of the viewer, such as a parent, friend, sibling, or pet, with a red X scrawled over the face. On the parchment, in the same red ink, a simple note is written: Their safety is ensured if you succeed in the mutual killings! Do your best in the trial and cover up your murder, alright? If not, there will be consequences!]

[he stuffs the picture and paper back in the folder and rips it up, trying to calm his heart]

[yeah, this isn't real. it can't be]

[he reaches up to feel the lock on the door, making sure it's turned, then slowly pushes back and climbs back into his cardboard bed]

[he is Not Getting Up]

[He's not sure what to think about who the red x is over.]

[He feels like he's been punched in the gut, but he's not upset, not in the traditional sense.]

[Maybe he has to see this.]

[He mulls over the photo for a while, then tucks it in his pocket and crawls in bed, turning to face the wall and stare into the darkness.]

[He's not sure he cares if he dies, tonight.]

[presses the sides of his pillow against his ears as he did at the prior announcement - he is much too tired for this]

[but when he wakes up again, late in the afternoon, he will find the envelope and grow pale at its contents]

[if Yuri was threatening his orchard in England that would be one thing - he loves those trees and has big hopes for them, sure, but they are still young, and new ones could be planted in their stead]

[but this... how does Yuri know of this place, of this-- he wouldn't really do that, right? he wouldn't...]

[Violet's been keeping to herself lately. The deaths of her fellow classmates have really taken a toll on her. She would like to talk to someone about it, but she's also scared. So at random points of the day, one might hear a sad clarinet solo wailing from her room...but that's another story.

The picture, of course, is her childhood friend that she's been pining after for a while...and damn, she's worried now. She opens the door a crack at random moments and will call people to talk to her whenever she sees someone pass by.]

H-hey! You! Yeah, you!

[he was just on his way to the cafeteria for an extremely late breakfast, freshly showered and dressed in clean, unbloody clothes]

Wh-what is the matter?

[She holds up the photograph. Hers happens to be of a punk-ish looking guy.]

Didja get one of these too?

[blinks, then nods hesitantly]

I-- I think all of us got one.

[his stomach growls]

How..? We just use this.

[grabs the dishwashing liquid and squirts some into the water, then holds out his hands for her dishes]

How do you do it at home?

[Yeah, she's just gonna let you take care of that.]

Uh, for me? Well, uh....the servants....just do it....

[looks at her in surprise as he gets to work]

You have servants?

[keeps staring]

[he can't remember looking into someone's eyes up close for this long before - well, their murderous classmate stared back at him, too...]

[frowns as he remembers how nice she was to him]

[... her eyes and these have completely different colours, he'll just try to concentrate on that]

[Huh, she sees his face scrunch up a little. She raises an eyebrow in return, looking like she wants to ask something...but nah, she'll just keep staring for now.]

[not that it really matters, but... he does have a snoubenka now]

[though said snoubenka didn't seem to mind his looks in the least when she declared him her husband]

[She pulls out a little container.]

You know what this is? It's some, uh...some sick-ass acne cream. Some of it's used up already, b-b-but that's only 'cause I-I help people like you! I-it's not like I need it or anything!

[COUGH.]

Aaaaanyways. Usually you wanna apply this stuff a few times a day! You know, after you wash your face and stuff.

[...You do wash your face, right?]

I should..? I still feel like always.

[whatever that means since he got to this school]

But okay, I will leave it on. Thank you. Can I take it and the washing lotion with me?

But come on, I just gave you something that'll...that'll turn that frown upside down, yo. Why can't you feel happy?

[She hands you the lotion.]

Anyways, here you go. You're gonna be so swank after using these for a while!

[Of course right now it looks like birds pooped all over you.]
